Poetry Workshop: 7.30pm

Open Mic: 9 – 11.30pm

 

RAW is free. The poetry workshop has a different theme each time to

get the words going – then it can take you any place.

The important thing is:

 

‘It’s not how good you are – It is how real you are’

 

RAW Open Mic is prebooked, but you may turn up on the night in the

hope someone has cancelled.

It is for both spoken and sung words.

The audience give 1-5 ‘GEMS’ (votes) to the acts and the four

who get most gain a 30/40 minute gig at RAW GEMS.

 

SpeechMotion provides filmmakers, poets and performers, with a platform to preview their work via the open mic/screen in Shoreditch’s The Horse and Groom.   This exciting addition to the neighborhood's cultural calendar will run every last Tuesday of the month and will culminate in SpeechMotion’s headlining talent. So, if you fancy yourself a poet, storyteller, performer or filmmaker (or all of the above), SpeechMotion is a fantastic opportunity to exhibit your work. Poetry Competition 2010

Entries are now invited for the 2010 Poetry Competition,

which will again be judged by poet Gerard Benson.

To link in with the 20th anniversary of Rhyme & Reason in 2010,

the theme for the competition is ‘Anniversary'.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winning adults

(1st prize: £110, 2nd prize: £60, 3rd prize: £30),

with a £30 book token awarded to the winning youth entry.

All winning entries will be published in the 2011 edition of

 Rhyme & Reason. The closing date for entries is 6th April 2010.
