Danni Antagonist

Five years on since first attacking the London Poetry scene (and getting a tattoo to mark the occasion), Danni’s feature sets in 2010 have included ; Rrrants’ Bard-Aid, Utter at the Edinburgh Fringe, Aestival in Sudbury and Tongue in Chic at the Buxton Fringe. She has supported headliners such as David J, John Hegley and Elvis McGonagall.

A proud Milton Keynes native, Danni, along with Fay Roberts, heads up MK’s art, slam and performance events known as Poetry Kapow!, which is having a bumper year with two sell-out extravaganza’s so far and the third, on October 15th looking to continue the success.

Mostly a rhyming poet, Danni’s often vehement performances convey a passion for the rhythm of the spoken word.

Her fourth mini-collection “Emotion:Memory” is currently available to buy.

Some work available on http://anxag0n1st.deviantart.com  and www.myspace.com/antagon1st

Endtimes

I was the crazy one ranting on the heath

About the fractured sky and the broken earth beneath.

About the rushing of wings and the gnashing of teeth,

And then the rains came.

And those who turned to medicine got ill.

The birds fell from the sky and the swine went off their swill.

And each of their bugs grew stronger still

And then the rains came.

And when the rains came

And the rivers overflowed

Bridges tumbled

And farmers lost the seeds they sowed.

There was rage and there was darkness

As infrastructure bowed

And a shaken civilization

Took to the road.

And I had seen it all I said,

But you never heard my cry.

You were somehow dissuaded

By that look in my eye

That said

“There’s no Noah now to save us

Now that we’ve pissed off all on high.”

Repent! Repay for all your sin.

No one believed the soothsayers

Who said the sky was falling in.

If you think there’s anything more that you can do

Then please, give it a try.

You’ll find me ranting on the heath.

Repent! For the end is nigh!

Town Mouse

At one with these city streets,

Waltzing their maze

My eyes ablaze with the possibilities

Of this as-yet unguided tour.

With each new venture

Out on these temperate streets

I trace a new course.

The hum of a night never dark

Warms the heart with its spark after spark.

Entrancing the dancer who fleetingly dreams

About troubles past,

And how the future now seems endlessly elevated.

The cracked crystal moon

Sputters flints of light

From golden spires,

And tired feet now illuminated

Are animated

From their somnambulant stumble

Into something electrified.

4 AM Sunrise

I am the crow of the morning

Silently observing

Waiting for the carrion to fall

I am twelve backs turning

Since I saw you never learning

I won’t hold my arms out any more

I am this room’s hearts beating

Ceaselessly repeating

Knowing that it will be over all too soon.

I am age not erasing

All those playful kittens chasing

Those firefly lights across the room

I am the earthquake thunder

That trembles coarsely under

The boldest and intrepid feet alike

I am the night-hawk shrieking

The rhythmic climax peaking

Bursting out into eternal light.

And as a new day dawns outside,

I am this room’s hearts beating

In this perpetual night.
