Dave Wallis

Dave is a prize-winning poet.  In as much as he’s read out couple of his poems once and won a colouring competition in 1981.

Having written lyrics and songs for his band ‘the Jelly Fiends’  Dave has now given poetry a stab.  And that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s murdered it.

He is also trying to take his poetry seriously, but finds taking anything seriously a real struggle.

Live at Owlsworld,  Recorded by Nina Welch  nwelch1@live.co.uk

I’m So Depressed

I woke up this morning and remembered you’d gone

So I wrote another depressing song

I cried a bit ‘cause you’re not with me

Tried to overdose on vitamin E

I’m So Depressed

I didn’t wash, I didn’t shave

Just stuck my head in the microwave

But they won’t go on until you close the door

And I dropped the damn thing on the floor

I’m So Depressed

I ran from the house to catch my train

My lonely heart still filled with pain

I lay on the track to seal my fate

But all the trains were running late

I’m So Depressed

Got to work on the 42nd floor

So forlorn, I can’t take anymore

Crawled out of the window and onto the ledge

But too scared of heights to go near the edges

I’m So Depressed

Although I’ve lost my would be bride

I’m just not cut out for suicide

So I have found an easier way

And started smoking 40 a day.
