Tinlin equates
to a songwriting partnership whose emphasis lies firmly in the
production of original and honest, yet well-crafted music.
With material born of an eclectic mix of both classical and
contemporary musical influences, we incorporate a unique
instrumentation of acoustic guitar, mandolin and percussion,
intertwined with bold vocal harmonies from the brothers Tinlin.
Reviewers have made various diverse comparisons ranging from
Neil Young, The Beatles, Turin Breaks, Simon & Garfunkel and
Crowded House although one must acknowledge these comparisons
they are eclipsed by our distinctive sound. |

Play
the Game
Look
at me with silent thunder, standing there in quiet rage. Turn
away and you’ll leave me shattered, turn it off and I’ll feel
the pain.
If
you want I’ll keep my distance, if you want I’ll stay away. Just
be sure it’s what you want, dear. Let me know and I’ll play the
game.
Yes
it’s true, you caught me looking; my eyes betray a lack of
sleep. But even so I mean to have you, just because you’re out
of reach.
You’re the one who made me hungry, you’re the one who lit the
flame. Just be sure it’s what you want, dear. Let me know and
I’ll play the game.
Sing
to me, I can’t be silent. Silence makes me stop and think – why
the hell I even came here, why I let you pour the drinks.
You’re the one who made me hungry, you’re the one who made me
chance. Just be sure it’s what you want, dear. Let me know and
I’ll play the game.
Oh,
let me know, because I can’t move the sun any closer than it is.

Away
for the Weekend
Do
you remember me? I sure as hell remember you; you used to pick
me up on a Friday, put me on a train on a Sunday.
Sometimes they’d meet us half way, we never had that much to
say.
We
were away for the weekend, like they told us to. We were away
for the weekend, like you’re supposed to do.
Was
it so hard to do: speak my mind in front of you, tell you “you
were wrong”, you’ll never know just how wrong.
But
it all came too late, it was anything but a holiday. We were
away for the weekend, like they told us to. We were away for the
weekend, like you’re supposed to do.
And
life goes on without you, or so it seems. You hide behind your
God you think is merciful, and even though you think he might
forgive you, well I’m not so sure I ever will. No I never will.
Was
it so hard to do, show a little love, a little patience too? We
were away for the weekend, like they told us to. We were away
for the weekend, like you’re supposed to do. |
"An acoustic
songwriting partnership producing an intimate and emotional
catalogue’’. Musicians Union Magazine
"Tinlin,
a progressive folk duo...from Vivaldi to their own 21st-century
songs, via Mozart, the Beatles and Crowded House. It's hugely
convivial!" Liz Boulter - The Observer
"Could this be a throwback to the innocent rock ballads crafted
with care in the 1970s by supergroups like Yes, Emerson Lake &
Palmer, Genesis and Jethro Tull? Soft-as-honey vocals turn into
a more assertive tone as the song floats on. We like the sound
of innocence combined with the eerily modern sounds and
whipped-until-thick Tinlin harmonies." Lemonrock.com review
"You don't often get vocal harmonies, great acoustic dynamics
and wit all in one package - but Tinlin have done it!
Reminiscent of early 10cc's love of fun, and cheeky irreverence,
this track shows that you don't need to have a vengeful
ex-girlfriend or an unfulfilled craving to fly in the sky to get
all heated up and emotional." |
