Useful

Were we meant to be together?

What a question?

Together, two people co-existing

Functioning without the necessity of love and pain

Functioning like a door and a handle

Functioning like a cloud and its rain

Were we meant to be together?

Love so deep it had no depth

Fear so strong it gently wept

Were we meant to be together?

A blue patched shirt, a winsome smile

Two letters smudged, a soft denial

I’m not going to run or hide or fade away or watch you crack in so much pain

I’m not going to ignore my need to explore your world, the nuances of your sneeze, or a chipped nail

I’m not just going to budge or turn away, because this week, THIS WEEK, I will finally say

My love will never change, you wish it would, but I’m still the same

Same like coat I keep on my bed

Same like the goldfish constantly dead

Same like the picture still in its frame

Oh wait, I weren’t expecting a change

Your name not the same, a ring but a thing, a place and a face

Different!

Not you my love, you will always be the same
